Ponosan sam na svoju Zemlju

I Am Proud of My Land (Folk Ballad Adaptation)
 by Marijan Dubravica.

The sun is shining on the fields so wide,
The ancient soil is calling with pride.
Croatia’s name is born in my song,
In every heartbeat it carries along.

I am proud of my land, my home,
From the mountains down to the foam.
Through the sorrow, through the fight,
Freedom rises with the light.

For those who stood and never gave way,
Defenders strong through night and day.
Vukovar’s cry still lives in our chest,
Silent and noble, it never rests.

Šibenik’s walls of stone still remain,
Bells recall sailors through wind and rain.
Dubrovnik shines on the sea so blue,
Love and sorrow remembered too.

United we stand

Made according to the short sci-fi story “United We Stay” by Marijan Dubravica.

A story about hope, unity, the present, and the future. Many things intertwine in that story; there’s also Arthur C. Clarke / Childhood’s End, Asimov / Foundation, Aldous Huxley / Ape and Essence, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk 2077, and, of course, SSV Normandy and Commander Shepard.

A short story, even more, an essay, which was created under the idea that in 1945, Aliens, not communists, took over Croatia, but at the same time, it is a story that can be applied to the current situation in Croatia and the whole World.
